wPOWER ANNUAL PARTNER GATHERING COLLABORATION FOR IMPACT: CAPTURING INSIGHTS, MARSHALLING EVIDENCE, AND HIGHLIGHTING BEST PRACTICE
December 6, 2017 @ 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
Lack of access to clean and sustainable energy is often gendered and impacts women disproportionately. Indoor air pollution emitted through the inefficient use of solid fuels contributes to the premature death of 4.3 million people annually, majority of whom are women and children under the age of 5. The access to electricity and household cooking fuels is inextricably linked to a quality of life for a woman, thus driving the need for greener and more sustainable growth through women’s participation across the energy access value chain. This is where Partnership on Women’s Entrepreneurship in Renewables’ (wPOWER) work as a global platform comes to the fore – to advance the pivotal role of women in clean energy entrepreneurship, addressing both energy poverty and climate change.
This wPOWER partner event comes at a time, when there is a greater emphasis and recognition on designing gender-sensitive programs across the energy supply chain. However, these are often bereft of knowledge on best practices available on the ground, what has succeeded so far, and lack scale-up. wPOWER’s three strategic priorities on building evidence, sharing best practices, and advocacy would underpin the conversation for this event for greater prioritization of women’s leadership across the energy supply chain.
We are excited to bring this event to you to share with your fellow wPOWER partners and strengthen professional ties as well as explore opportunities for greater collaboration.
